This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in health care support roles in a diversity of locations including urban, rural and remote settings. It is specific to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who work under general supervision as part of a multidisciplinary health care team providing primary health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and communities.

At this level, work involves the provision of generalist health services and the use of some discretion and judgment within the parameters of clearly defined plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a range of health care settings including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community organisations, and the public or private health sector.
